Jack Ridley is a detective turned paranormal investigator who frequently worked with Gravestone.
Bio
Beginnings
At the age of 3 his mother ran away with him to Racine, Wisconsin as she escaped Jack’s father who was secretly a vampire. Jack was never told the truth about his father as he grew up. At age 5, he saw his first UFO in the sky over Cambiare Rock while visiting family in New Prairie.
A long-dead previous resident haunted the house where he lived from the ages of 8 to 11. The spooky sounds and unexplainable happenings caught a young Jack’s attention and sent him into what started as a hobby but became a career as a private investigator and a lover of the paranormal.
New Prairie Calls
In 1994, Jack was called into New Prairie by Lt. Logan Myers to investigate a strange murder. While there, more murders ensued, and soon Jack found the connection between all of them. He confronted the murderer, a vampire who was attempting to resurrect a once-powerful vampire named Damien Quidd. The vampire needed Jack in order to complete the resurrection, which he tried to stop but was unable to. As a result, Quidd was resurrected from the dead in Pennsylvania.
A few months later, another string of murders plagued New Prairie, and Jack was brought back in to investigate. The murderer this time appeared to be a presence of evil, taking on the shape of the victim’s worst fear. Jack managed to stop the force once and for all, by showing its reflection in a mirrored fun house. Jack blacked out and awoke to find himself at his apartment. It was due to these two cases that members of the New Prairie Police Force began seeking his assistance with any unusual happenings or cases. It was because of these cases that Jack soon became friends with Lt. Logan Myers.
In August of 1995, Jack was called by the police chief to help Sargent Jake Morris with the investigation of the first Teen Massacre. Jack heavily backed up the theory of the Dark Killer being responsible. Still, after evidence pointed to Sara Cole being the killer and a video camera (that showed a moment of the Dark Killer) from the crime scene being confiscated, he couldn’t back up any claims.
Killing the Dark Killer
A month later, Jack confronted Chelsie McKenna about the second Teen Massacre after he found that she had witnessed most of the killings, survived, and got away. He secretly helped her try to solve the mystery of the murders. Jack then went to Rhenderelli Asylum and talked to Sara Cole about the teen murders and the recent killings at the asylum itself. As the next few months passed, Jack and Chelsie utilized all the resources at their disposal and attempted to devise a way to capture the Dark Killer. On New Year's Eve, Jack, with the help of Chelsie and Gravestone, lured the Dark Killer to the Shaddick Stadium where they banished him to an alternate dimension.
Leaving New Prairie
Over the next few years, Jack’s travels take him away from New Prairie and to different parts of the country where he solves mysteries that are heavy with paranormal activity. After solving each mystery, Jack takes an item to remember it by, greatly adding to his collection at home. Jack returns to New Prairie in 1999 where he finally confronts and befriends Gravestone and Waxgirl!
Gravestone Turns
In June of 2000, GRAVESTONE is kidnapped and turned into a vampire by DAMIEN QUIDD’s goons. Jack and WAXGIRL! go rescue him but during their rescue, they accidentally mix up the curing wooden spike and turn GRAVESTONE into a mortal once again. In March 2001, Jack recognizes the string of deaths plaguing New Prairie as being similar to those of the ancient spirit NICCIA. He confronts the body she inhabits and after nearly being killed, recites an incantation that forces the spirit out of her body. Before the spirit can attack him, he quickly recites another incantation that opens a small portal and sucks her into it for good.
Banishing Niccia For Good
In 2001, Jack confronts the spirit of Niccia, possessing the body of long time missing woman Aly Nadel. He ultimately banishes her soul to an New Prairie (Alternate) and smashes the necklace for good. He retains the shards and locks them in a box within his collection.
Gravestone's Death
In 2004, Jack helps GRAVESTONE attempt to rid DAMIEN QUIDD for good by momentarily draining QUIDD of his immortality. GRAVESTONE successfully stabs QUIDD with a stake, but QUIDD turns it back onto GRAVESTONE, killing him as well. Jack loses his happy attitude towards life as he watches his friend die in front of him, and turns to a life of seclusion. 4 years later, LT. LOGAN MYERS comes to Jack’s house needing his help in solving a strange murder case that appears to be caused by vampires. During the investigation, Jack is aided by two teens (who survived the attack) and finds that VICTORIA QUIDD is attempting to resurrect her dead husband, DAMIEN. He attempts to stop her, but is lured into a trap by VICTORIA and gets bit by one of the two girls who was made into a vampire by a newly resurrected DAMIEN. Jack turns into a vampire himself. Jack’s vampire force is the ability to see any point in time, past and future. Part of this power is rubbed off onto DAMIEN QUIDD during both of his resurrections.
