Baggage Check is a short story featuring Gravestone's involvement in the death of the infamous Dark Killer.

Plot

Gravestone is annoyed to be guarding a very smelly, old trunk in the middle of Shaddick Stadium at night on New Year's Eve. The trunk, found by Jack Ridley in a secret room beneath the Martini Farm, is intended to lure the Dark Killer out of hiding in order to capture him. Soon, Gravestone finds the Dark Killer has in fact arrived at the stadium to take back the trunk. The two start fighting, in which Gravestone manages to cut off the Dark Killer's left hand using the trunk as a blade.

In a moment of pause, Gravestone notices that the Dark Killer exhibits similar powers as he does and starts questioning if they are one in the same. The Dark Killer tells Gravestone that the mountain is what made him the way he is. Before Gravestone can ask more questions, the Dark Killer says if he's given the ring inside the trunk, he'll leave and not kill him. Gravestone, believing him, goes to get the ring but is tackled by the Dark Killer.

The Dark Killer's attempt to kill Gravestone is stopped by Jack Ridley and Chelsie McKenna who've arrived from getting Jack's spellbook. The Dark Killer is banished to an alternate dimension, Jack says he'll take the trunk and keep it safe, and Gravestone is left behind as the church bells ring out through the city celebrating the start of a new year.
