Bio
Immigrating & Hard Times
Tessio immigrated from Tetalia, Italy, to New York City in 1923 with his mother and two older siblings. His mother died in 1928 after being raped in a back alley, two blocks from the small, one-room apartment they had been living in. Tessio was forced to fend for himself after both of his older siblings left to find jobs and never came back. Tessio met his future wife, Rosary Coccerelli, in 1952.
Death
Tessio died in 1973 of a heart attack just before his son Sonny fled the city in an attempt to save his life.
