Scary Appliances - Spin Off

What if in the lore of this series there's a pissed off assistant director that has a disagreement about what the next scary tech thing is. So he makes his own production company to produce a knock off entry in the series called "Scary Appliances" because he thinks the real threat is having computers in all our appliances. And that movie bombs hard and bankrupts his company. But it has a cult following and a documentary about it. It could start as BTS for one of the films but a rift starts forming between the director and his AD. And then it just spirals. It could be that the last time they work together the guy keeps sneaking appliances into the backgrounds and edges of shots. That's the last straw.
