Ashley Sheppard was an architect and romantic love interest of Garrett Moore.

Early Days
Was diagnosed with a fatal disease at the age of 4 but kept the disease private.
In 1994, Ashley met Garrett Moore during Physics Day at Great America in Chicago. Though Garrett was from a totally different city, the two continue to bump into one another all day. During their conversations, she found that Garrett would be attending Stevens Point for college, the same place she was going to. Ashley writes down her name and tells him to find her when he gets there.
College Years
That fall, Ashely ran into Garrett who has almost forgotten about her since their last meeting. Soon the two become good friends and date on again/off again during their Junior year. Nearing their senior year, Garrett and Ashley discuss their future, which ultimately led to them breaking up. During this time Ashley was offered a job in New York City, which she ultimately decided to not take. In 1998, Ashley graduated from Stevens Point and for the next year had very little to no contact with Garrett.
Career and Meeting Garrett Again
In late 1999, Ashley was referred by a business partner to Hicks & Abbott Architectural Firm in New Prairie, which she takes and move to. Fresh to the town, she goes to Jumpers where she ran into Garrett again. After a long night of talking, the two end up together again. 8 months later, they move in together.
Nearing the End
In early December of 2001, Ashley went to her monthly checkup, where the doctor informed her that her disease has escalated severely, giving her only 6 months to live. She decided to not tell Garrett about it. A few days before Christmas, she finds out that Garrett had bought a ring and has plans to purpose to her on Christmas Day. She and Garrett have a fun night together on Christmas Eve. Ashley awoke early Christmas morning, wrote a note, took a few of her things, and left Garrett for good. In the note, she refrained from saying she’s dying, rather that the decision will be a benefit for both of them.
In May of 2002, she wrote a short lament that she arranged to be given to her friends and family at her funeral. As the month goes along, she became weaker and eventually died on May 31st. At the funeral, her friends and family gather to mourn. A heartbroken and depressed Garret was spotted in the back.
