Architectural Layout & Atmosphere

• The Facade: Classic Neoclassical architecture built from weathered Wisconsin Cream City brick, featuring grand limestone steps, soaring columns, and arched stained-glass windows overlooking the lakefront.
• The Main Hall: A two-story reading room lined with heavy oak bookshelves, cast-iron spiral staircases reaching the mezzanine walkways, and green glass banker lamps casting dim circles of light onto long mahogany tables.

🗄️ The Blueprints Vault & Secret Room

The infrastructure blueprints of modern New Prairie hidden inside the building contain anomalies that normal civil engineers try to ignore.

• The Local History Annex: Tucked deep past the microfiche machines on the garden basement level is a restricted archivist room overseen by elderly civil volunteers. This is where the original architectural blueprints of the city are kept.
• The 1976 Gap: If a character like Jack Ridley or Sarah Cole pulls the municipal maintenance charts for the downtown utilities grid, they will discover that the blueprints from late 1976 (right after J.P. Derelli's restructuring) show massive, unmapped grid blank zones beneath the foundation blocks of the Derelli Towers.
• The Hidden Doorway: Behind an unmovable bookshelf in the far corner of the basement maintenance vault lies a utility access hatch. Officially logged as an "abandoned coal chute from the 1922 boiler configuration," this door opens directly onto a steep, hand-carved stone stairwell.
• The Underground Nexus: Descending these stairs bypasses the modern sewer infrastructure entirely, breaking cleanly into the dark, moisture-slick, turn-of-the-century catacombs. This creates a direct physical backdoor between the daylight world of the city's public archives and the subterranean matrix where Gravestone and older forces reside.
