Teresa was born in Newark, NJ, just as her family was informed that their home would be destroyed due to the upcoming construction of the I-78 highway in its place. She has no memory of her first childhood home, as by the time she was three months old, the family had relocated to the Bay Ridge district in Brooklyn.
