40 years later, the head of creative at Rathbone Films greenlight the production of a legacy sequel to this film called Dr. Killhov (2019), having been a fan of it since he was a teenager. The sequel did so well, a trilogy was greenlit to wrap up the storyline: Dr. Killhov: Rescheduled (2020), Dr. Killhov: Rejuvenated (2021).
Trivia
- The original film was made for only $5,500, however, when producer James Gilbertson saw the film at a late-night screening, he immediately wanted to market it to a wider audience. He purchased the rights to the film and developed "Gore-a-vision", a gimmick that included a pair of goggles that audience members would wear during portions of the film. The goggles would then drip blood between two thin pieces of plastic to simulate the viewer being covered in blood. The goggles rarely worked and quickly became obsolete at future showings of the film.
Tagline
