			When the library first opened, it was originally sandwiched between 8th and 10th Street. As time went by and parking became an issue, the library requested from the city an expansion into the abandonded structures across the street from them. The city approved the expansion, cutting 8th street off and pushing civic green space and the additional parking spots into the abandonded area in 1964.
