The decision was to go with a more "positive" song as it resonated more with the band's history and growth as members came and went. 	"The Rose" was the last song recorded for the new album and despite Victor Morgan not performing on it, he was in the control booth listening as the band played it live in a single take. There's rumors that the subtle crying in the background after the song ends is actually Morgan, though nothing has come out to prove that.
