The first recorded killing linked to the Dark Killer in New Prairie occurred in 1929, when [[Nucci Balfone]] was found bleeding on the steps of [[St. Murphy's Church]] early in the morning. Balfone, in a panic, claimed that a man dressed in black had murdered his entire family. The town dismissed his account as madness and committed him to the newly established [[Rhenderelli Asylum]]. It's energy gave him extroardinary powers and abilities as long as he kept it within proximity of himself. It's this artifact that [[Jack Ridley]], almost 75 years later, would refer to as simply [[mystic boxes]] and ultimately become a time travel device for [[Ian Grada]], [[Andy Williams]], and [[Kevin Stewart]].
