			As the show was nearing its end, the studio had already secured syndication rights for its entire run, aiming to keep the show on air as long as possible. This prompted them to revisit contracts for many of the music tracks featured in the early 80s. Unfortunately, numerous tracks couldn't be renewed because the original studios demanded higher licensing fees. As a result, many popular songs were replaced by in-house sound-alikes that didn't need extra licensing.

			Out of the few that did get renewed, the most popular was '''''Finally You''''' by [[Foolish Creeper]]. This renewal put their song front and center for a new generation who might have missed its earlier appearance over a decade ago. The new licensing deal allowed the band to fund their future two albums and continue their already long career.

			Following the addition of bassist [[Karen Weber]], the band spent the winter of 1980 honing their raw sound in basement venues across Wisconsin. In February 1981, they caught the attention of regional talent scout and producer [[Dave Shevil]] during a high-energy showcase at Jumpers. Impressed by Denis Porter’s aggressive vocal range and Lauren Jensen’s raw guitar work, Shevil brought the band to [[Parma Records]], an independent label known primarily for distributing garage rock and proto-punk.

			The group entered the studio in the spring of 1981 to record their debut album, ''[[Battler (album)\|Battler]]''. The production was plagued by early creative friction, as Parma executives pressured the band to clean up their gritty, hard-rock edge to appeal to commercial radio. Released in October 1981, Battler showcased a fierce, driving heavy metal and hard rock style, highlighted by the tracks "Lost in War" and the near-six-minute opening to Side B, "Swords Held Long."

			Despite a favorable reception among New Prairie’s local underground music scene, the album suffered from poor distribution and failed to chart nationally. Tensions mounted further when a scheduled 1982 promotional tour met with logistical setbacks and low ticket sales outside the Midwest. Citing financial losses and the album's commercial failure, Parma Records dropped Foolish Creeper from their roster in early 1983, leaving the band's future highly uncertain and forcing Shevil to seek out alternative avenues for their music.
