This album marked the first major steps the band was making in their new direction and tone. When it came to writing songs for the album, the band members decided to look in new directions. Lauren Jensen and Karen Weber were heavily influenced by their hometown and wrote songs about the street they grew up on (''Quinto Ave'') and the [[Teen Massacres of 1995]] (''Moving Shadows'').
